Women's Healthy Products
I am a strong proponent of cotton diapers, and I offer you these personal care products as an alternative to disposable
products that clutter our land fills, unnecessarily use resources, and expose us to chemical contamination. I have no proof of a
link, and perhaps I am a bit paranoid, but I think it is interesting that the first generation of girls that were exposed to disposable
diapers were the first women to develop toxic shock syndrome. Toxic shock syndrome was directly linked to tampons that
contained the same chemical that is still used to gel the pee in disposable.
I am not alone in my opinion. A wonderful reference list is at Keeper. They offer another product that I think is fine alternative
to disposable pads.
I make these nursing pads and granny rags out of leftover fabric from cutting my knits and flannels. The fabric is as chemical
free as I am able to get. I encourage you to wash the pads or rags a couple of times before using. Washing puffs the fabric and
enhances the absorbency.
Nursing Pads
$3.25/6 pads or $25/60 pads
I sew these out of many layers of soft, absorbent cotton knit. No fuzz or lint to stick to the skin. These pads will help keep
nursing breasts clean and healthy.
Six or twelve pads are plenty for most moms. The bulk pack are great for buying groups, gifting to new moms to encourage
nursing, or support groups to sell as fund raisers.
I strongly suggest any pregnant mother to contact La Leche League. By going to the meetings you become part of the
continuum of mother: learning from more experienced mothers and becoming a role model for mothers coming along behind
you. There is so much that is to be gained by hanging out with a bunch of other nursing mothers: information, companionship,
support, community.
Granny Rags $3 each
Small, Medium, or Large
If you are looking for fancy menstrual cloths, wrapped in an elegant silky package, blessed by waters from the Moon Goddess,
you are looking at the wrong page. But if you are looking for a plain product that does the job without exposing you to the
harsh chemicals that are used in disposable pads.
These are plain, white or unbleached, cotton pads to be used during your menstrual flow, just like granny used to use. They are
easy to use: Tuck inside of a snug pair of panties. Change as needed. Wash in the machine.
Do not mistake me for a fanatic. I still supplement these with a disposable on heavy flow days. But I find that my skin feels
healthier when I keep cotton next to my skin.
How many you will need depends on your flow, your laundry facilities, and if you use these exclusively.
Email me if you would like
a printed copy of this catalog. It is nothing more than a stale copy of
what you see here, but I am glad to send it to you if really want one.
