Those of you that know me, know that my whole business is centered around
the needs of my friends and family. I have helped many women with hair
loss due to chemo therapy over the years with my cotton scarves. So now
that my mother has walked that trail, I am creating a lot of fashions that
meet the needs of those with hair loss due to chemo therapy. (She's
doing great now, five years plus.)
So your hair is falling out. You are dealing with a serious illness.
Chemo is making you feel yucky. You have are dealing with a lot of nasty
medical stuff. And you really don't want to deal with looking funky. Let's
face it not everybody looks good with a skin head hair style.
On the other hand you don't want to look like someone that has been
out picking potatoes. Nor do you want a clinical looking hat that makes
you look like you just walked off of the set of ER.
What you need is to feel "regular," like the real you. You need head
covering to fit with the various things that you do with your life. I mean
like, you really don't plan to sit at home. Heck NO! You have been given
the gift of the rest of your life, and you plan to go and grab it with
gusto. Go Girl!
A note about colors
White, beige, and pale yellow or green may
heighten the appearance of palor. Try scarf or cap colors of an intensity
similar to your hair color. If your natural hair color is dark brown, use
navy, black, or brown close to your face. A medium blond would favor medium
blue. A light blond would use pastel colors.

Thoughts on Hats
-
Going Out Hats.
This is for when you are going out in public, like to the market. You want hats that reflect
the current fashion standards for your area and that are appropriate for
the season. You will want to be extra careful to protect your skin from lots of sun light as some forms of Chemo and Radiation cna make you extra susceptible to sun burn.
Baseball hats and cotton scarves are great for these casual or sports
wear times.
Wear a close cotton cap or scarf under your hat to keep the hat from
irritating your head, and to add flair to your look.
-
Fancy Hats.
These hats are easiest to find and the most fun to shop for. When you
go out shopping, select several hats and asked the clerk if you can take
them into the dressing room to try them on. The mirrors there will make
it easier to see the back of your head, and give you the privacy to feel
comfortable.
Splurge on something really yummie for church or the opera. A simple
hat, cut in velvet with a fancy pin can look stunning.
The muff hat works well to add a warm layer over that beautiful hat or scarf tie you just spent time on getting JUST right.
-
At Home Hats
You need lots of soft cotton hats that you can wear at home.
They sould
be washable. Cotton will breath and not irritate the head. They should
stay on well so that they don't keep sliding around on your head. Hats
with a streatchy "head band" work well. You may find that your going out hats work at home, or you may find that your favorite at home hat feels great, but looks a bit funky in public.
Indulge your self in lots home hats so that you can change them several
times a day if you like.
-
Bed Hats
When you go to bed and you lie next to your sweety, you especially
want to look feminine and lovely. Add some trim or rosettes to one of the
soft hats that fits you well. Or you may just find that your head is cold without hair, or that the touch of the pillow bothers you.

Check my instructions for How to Tie a Turban
A traditional way to cover your head. Cotton scarves are less "slippery"
than nylon or silk, so they tend to stay put on your head.
Spend some time trying out different ways to tie them.
I sell some plain cotton scarves that work well, but you can often find printed scarves at import stores. Check out the hats page for more information on my scarves.

Bag
Hat.....$15.00
Made of light and airy cotton gauze this is the kind of hat you see
at Renn. Faires. It is a bit poofy for most people, but my mother pulled
it up on one side and with a twist of the cloth added a broach and it was
stylin'!
-
Baguette
Hat....$15.00
Similar to the bag hat it is less poofy and the 4 inch head band is
made out of a streachy, soft cotton knit. An excellent around the house
hat.
-
Marlene's Hat.....$15.00
The hat in search of a name found one. Actually I had decided that I didn't much like this hat, but my neighbor Marlene decided that this
was her best knock about the farm cap. Round with a fold up brim,
it is made of cotton knit. I cut this deep enough to be pulled well on
the head. (I have to admit that the link is to a very rough sketch I made
for Elisheva at 4 in the morning.)
A sad note is that after living life to its fullest, Marlene passed on this spring. She will be missed.

-
Dori's
Cap....$6.00
This fits like the old fashioned bathing cap of the 1950's. Made of 100% cotton knit. Use it under other hats, or wrap a 12x60"
scarf over for a turban. The photo show it with and without a scarf.
-
Sampler.....$30.00
Your choice of three of the $15 caps and a Dori Cap for you to find what works best for you. You can even specify
different colors for your hats.
Email me if you would like
a printed copy of this catalog. It is nothing more than a stale copy of
what you see here, but I am glad to send it to you if really want one.
